How much should a website cost in Cameroon?

Real numbers, what changes them, and how to tell an honest quote from an expensive one.

The honest ranges

A single-page site for a small business starts around 80,000 FCFA. A proper multi-page business website with custom design and SEO built in sits between 250,000 and 600,000 FCFA. An online store, or a site with bookings and payments, starts around 600,000 FCFA and goes up from there.

Those are our published prices, and they’re about right for good work in this market. Anything far below suggests a template filled in quickly. Anything far above should come with a very specific explanation of what the extra money buys.

What actually drives the price

  • How many pages. Each page is design, content and testing, not just another menu item.
  • Custom design or template. A template is faster and cheaper. A custom design looks like you rather than like everyone else.
  • What it has to do. Payments, bookings, logins and two languages each add real work.
  • Who writes the words. If you supply the text it costs less. If we write it, that is a separate job.
  • Whether SEO is included. A site built to rank costs more than a site built to exist, and it is worth more.

The costs people forget

The build isn’t the whole cost. Domain renewal, hosting after the first year, security and plugin updates, and content changes all carry on after launch. A quote that doesn’t mention them isn’t dishonest, but it’s incomplete. So ask.

Ask exactly this: what happens after year one, who owns the domain, what a text change costs, and whether training is included. The answers separate suppliers faster than the headline price does. Ours are on the care plans page, priced, so you can compare them against whoever else you are asking. If you want to price the hosting side yourself, the tools we use lists what we run and what it costs.

The question that reveals the most“If I stop working with you, what do I take with me?” The right answer is: everything, in your name, with all the logins.

Cheap twice is not cheap

The most expensive websites we see are the cheap ones. A business pays 50,000 FCFA for something quick. Within a year they find it can’t be edited, doesn’t rank, and looks broken on a phone. So they pay again to have it built properly.

That isn’t an argument for spending as much as possible. It’s an argument for being clear about what the website is supposed to do, then buying the version that does it rather than the version that’s simply cheapest.

What our three plans include

Ranges are only useful if you know what sits inside them. These are our published plans, line by line, so you can compare any other quote against them.

After the first year, the domain is renewed at cost and hosting is either yours to arrange or covered by a care plan from 50,000 FCFA a year.

How to compare two quotes fairly

  • Are the same number of pages included?
  • Is the design custom, or a template other businesses also use?
  • Is on-page SEO included, or charged for later?
  • Are hosting and a domain included, and for how long?
  • Is there training, and how much support after launch?
  • Who owns the accounts on the day the project ends?

Answer those six questions for each quote and the cheaper one often turns out not to be the cheaper one. Our full breakdown is on the web design pricing page, published so you can compare before you speak to anyone.

Questions people ask

Usually because something is missing: hosting, a domain in your name, mobile optimisation, training or any support after launch. Compare what is included, not just the headline price.

Yes, hosting and the domain renew yearly. With us the first year is included; after that the domain is billed at cost and hosting is yours to arrange or part of a care plan from 50,000 FCFA a year.

Most projects run 50% to start and 50% at handover, and larger builds are split across milestones. Ask for the schedule in writing before work starts.

Content changes you cannot make yourself, new features, the domain and hosting from year two, and any paid plugins or tools. A good quote lists these rather than leaving them to surprise you.
