Last updated: 22 September 2026This document is written in plain English on purpose. If anything in it is unclear, ask us and we will explain it rather than pointing at a clause.
The short version
This website does not set any cookies of its own. It does not store anything in your browser, it has no analytics running, and it carries no advertising pixels. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
Two things are loaded from Google, and one of them does set cookies. Both are covered below.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Some are needed for a site to work at all. Others remember preferences, measure how a site is used, or follow you between sites so that advertising can be targeted.
The last kind is why the law treats them the way it does, and why most sites now open with a banner.
What we set: nothing
We set no first-party cookies. We also use none of the related browser storage, so nothing is kept between visits and nothing identifies you when you return.
There is no analytics on this site at present. When somebody reads a page here, we do not know it happened.
Our enquiry forms send what you type in them. They do not leave anything in your browser afterwards, and the information you send is covered by the privacy policy rather than by this page.
What is loaded from Google
Two things on this site come from Google’s servers rather than ours.
- Fonts, on every page. The typefaces are served by Google Fonts. This sets no cookies, but loading a file from Google means Google receives your IP address and browser details, the same as any request to any server.
- The map, on the contact page only. The embedded map is Google Maps, and Google does set its own cookies when it loads. This happens on that one page, it is Google’s doing rather than ours, and it is governed by Google’s privacy policy. No other page on this site embeds anything.
What will change, and when
This will not stay true forever, and we would rather say so than quietly rewrite the page later.
- Analytics. We expect to connect a privacy-respecting analytics tool so we can see which pages are useful and which are ignored.
- The shop. When the guides can be paid for on the site, checkout will need cookies to remember what is in your basket and to keep the payment step secure. Those are genuinely essential and cannot be switched off without breaking the purchase.
- Advertising. If we run ads that we need to measure, the platform running them may set cookies to connect a click to an enquiry.
Before any of those are switched on, this page gets updated and a consent step goes up. Nothing that is not essential gets set until you have said yes.
Controlling cookies yourself
There is nothing on this site to turn off, so there is no preference control here to offer you. Your browser is the more thorough option in any case: every major browser lets you view, delete and block cookies under its privacy settings, and every major browser can block third-party cookies outright.
Blocking third-party cookies will stop the map on the contact page setting anything. It will not affect the rest of this site, because there is nothing else to affect.
Changes
If we start setting a cookie, we will say so here and change the date at the top. If we ever do something materially different, we will ask for your consent again rather than assuming an old answer still covers it.
